2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Luis García Berlanga, perhaps the most important director of Spanish cinema with Buñuel’s permission. From 1951, the year he filmed That Happy Couple with Juan Antonio Bardem, until 2002 when he said goodbye to the seventh art with the short-falla The Teacher’s Dream, made with José Luis García Sánchez, Berlanga’s cinema became a witness and chronicler of the history of Spain in the second half of the 20th century.
