In the current period of energy transition, and following the closure of the mines, these regions are losing the economic and cultural splendor they once had, while their mining heritage is disappearing. This is the story of that mining experience told by those who lived it, both inside and outside the mines, and by what remains of them. It is the story of the experiences, the dangers, the good times and the bad, and the irreplaceable place that coal leaves in the life and culture of this area.”
