Synopsis: “In the heart of El Bierzo, nestled among mountains and vineyards, stands an imposing fortress steeped in legend: the Templar Castle of Ponferrada. We delve into the history and secrets of one of the most enigmatic strongholds of the Knights Templar on the Iberian Peninsula.
Through interviews with historians, archaeologists, and medieval enthusiasts, we reconstruct the splendor of the Templars and the construction of the castle, which began in the 12th century and was completed in the 16th. We learn the story of the Knights Templar, who protected pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago and wove a network of political and spiritual power that continues to fascinate even today.
The documentary culminates with the vibrant celebration of Templar Night, a festival that combines theater, symbolic rituals, and a torchlight procession. Ponferrada is transformed into a period setting, where history and legend merge under the moonlight. The Footprint of the Temple invites us on a journey. where truth and myth intersect in the passageways of time”.
