Synopsis: “Francisco Martínez López, “El Quico”, is one of the last witnesses of the armed resistance that was organized in large areas of León and Galicia against the dictatorship until 1952. He will turn 100 on October 1, 2025, and with hypnotic charisma and extraordinary lucidity, he tells us about his republican childhood, the violence of Franco’s coup d’état, the citizen network that was organized to hide fugitives, and the daily life of the guerrillas. “Guerrillero” is a story of survival and resistance, which tells how children and adults became, without wanting to, intrepid heroes. What Quico experienced is an example of what happened in hundreds of towns in Spain, which one fine day, with the coup d’état of July 1936, went from living peacefully and in harmony to suffering tremendous repression.”
